Violet's parents died of AIDS and left behind her and her brother Ronald. They were placed in her grandmother's care but despite her best efforts, she was unable to take care of Violet and her brother so they was placed in the care of Lusungu Children's Home.

Violet is a tender-hearted girl with a love for reading. Her favorite subjects in school are English and literature. When she finishes school she wants to be a journalist.
